About Medicare

Medicare Advantage is where Medicare pays a private insurance company to insure you. For most plans there is no additional monthly premium that is required above the Medicare part B premium. Many seniors preferred these plans because it is a pay-as-you-go program. This means you pay a co-pay when you have services, for example, $5 for a primary doctor and $40 to see a specialist. Whereas with a Medicare supplement, you pay a set monthly premium each and every month whether you use it or not. These Medicare advantage plans or Medicare part C plans also cover additional benefits that are not covered under traditional supplement plans such as a free gym membership, hearing aid coverage, vision coverage and in some cases dental coverage. Many of the Medicare Advantage plans also include the Medicare part D prescription drug plan included in the benefits.
